I was searching for a tote pattern online and came across these types of bags. There are patterns for crocheting and knitting these, and also weave and sew.
Well, I was suddenly inspired to try old jeans for a stronger type of bag. My girl carries some heavy books at times and goes through a couple of store bought book bags a year.
I used the leggs for the sides and used the left over pieces for the body and added length. I am very happy with the result. Went fairly fast once I figured out the size and length needed. I didn't give it the finished touches yet - lining and pockets; haven't quite figured out how I am going to do that :D.
This one is another version of a book tote. I just took this off the Union loom. It's made from left over scraps of cut up jeans.
Here are the finished results: I machine sewed up the sides and trimmed up the edges. I used the legs from the jeans for the straps as I had seen on a sew project before.
I used a square and criss cross sewing to add extra stability. Made a cute tote bag.
